Red Elephant Trails is a Hailey ID based trail construction company. Founded in 2014 our goal is to continue the evolution of trails in the valley and beyond by providing sustainable, aesthetically pleasing and user generated trails. With the focus on more than basic trail building, we will incorporate best management practices for sustainable trails and awareness of local social issues in our build concepts. Our deep roots in mountain biking and other action sports such as backcountry skiing lead to a deep understanding of flow and terrain management. Red Elephant Trails builds uniquely sculpted dirt that incorporates our personal and professional experiences, all while acknowledging the limitation of terrain and planning for future users.
Crew Leading, equipment operating and trail consulting, have been developing my skills and honing my ability to build sustainable and fun trails. I began my trail career in 2006 after graduating from Johnson State College with a degree in Outdoor Education, which lead to employment with the Student Conservation Association (SCA) in the high school department leading crews of six students in parks throughout the nation. In 2009 I founded Ptarmigan Ptrails LLC where
I’ve been building trails for private parties, National Forest Service, the State of Alaska, Municipality of Anchorage and other non-profit organizations. During the entire duration of my time at Ptrails I was an integral part of the Youth Employment in Parks (YEP) program, where the Municipality of Anchorage contracted me to manage eight projects with 20-30 high school students. In the six years with YEP the program acquired national awards and became one of the first programs of its kind to be accredited by The Corps Network. Owning/Operating Ptrails for six years has allowed me to improve my skills and stay current with the rapidly evolving trail and recreation community through the building of 30 miles of trail in South Central Alaska. With this experience I started Red Elephant Trails based out of Hailey, ID. In the building season of 2015 we completed nearly 20 miles of trail in the mountain west environment.
